March 15: Overnight in IL

3:30 We're off! I've decided that I'm going to once again attempt to keep a travel journal. Where are we off ot this time? Texas! It's been six years already since we've been down there and even longer for Dad! Dad hasn't been to Texas since 1993 or 1994 when we took a train there from IL. That was back when we were a family of four!
We're tryinga new system for this trip. Everybig kid has a little buddy and every little kid has a big buddy. My buddy is Rebecca and we're the first seat after the driver. I've named it the
"Bud-e" system.
5:29 Rebecca keeps peaking her head above my pillow which is sitting between us. Her big blue eyes are adorable.
5:52 We've just crossed the border into Illinois! I think I'll just say now, to anyone who may be reading this - I most likely won't continue to update this journal every few minutes with random comments! (Note: I've already removed portions for your sake :-)
6:00 Growing up I used to think that Wisconsin was a boring and rather ugly state but have come to realize, as I've seen some of the off-road and more southern parts of Wisconsin (Mineral Point, Plattville, South of Waldo, Southern areas...) I've come to realise that it is very gorgeous in some places. Though, that probably to my bias for hilly areas.

Non-Journal Comments
Wendy and I stayed up really late talking about life and situations and it was so encouraging (and convicting!). I wish there were more families like hers in our area. In this day and age there is negative pressure from everyone and unfortuantly this often includes alot of people that you don't expect to hear it from. You all know that my family has set ourselves apart by adhering to standards that some people have looked down on us for. I feel so blessed to have spent the night there with a peer who is holding to her standards so much better than I. Thank you Wendy!
